Hebrews 11:13 These all died in faith without having received the promises, but they saw them from a distance, greeted them, and confessed that they were foreigners and temporary residents on the earth. 14 Now those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. 15 If they had been remembering that land they came from, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 But they now aspire to a better land—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

This nation now has someone whom I hope can continue a “Dream” along with another “New Deal!” President-elect Barack Obama, I salute you! I can see the faith, in the vision you possessed when you started out on the steps in Springfield, Il at the capitol where you declared your candidacy for the presidency of the United States of America. Then all you had were a few things none of which were tangible to the human touch. They consisted of vision, hope, faith and prayer. Afterwards many would wonder if you could beat the powerful Clinton (Bill & Hilary) machine? Others doubted you because John McCain was a war hero (POW). As an experienced politician he looked unbeatable on paper! You must have known some of the pilgrims who had gone this way before you standing up in the name of justice and speaking on behalf of the voiceless. You never looked back, you were never satisfied, and not counting anything as gain you pressed on towards the mark; that high calling of the Most High God! By faith, you were able to accept the nomination of the Democratic National Party as the first African-American to do so. By faith, you were able travel to and fro, the length and the breadth of this country campaigning on behalf of the widows, the single parents, the middle-class, the working class and the poor assuring that they would have a voice that will be heard throughout the nation. You wore your Christianity with honor, and many times displayed it when others would not have. You displayed it when you were being called a Muslim and when they said, “You were palling around with terrorists. By faith, you walked the wine press alone. Taking the moral high road; the road less traveled especially in American politics. By faith, you have taught all of America and the world what it is to dream, to live, and most importantly to serve something greater than themselves! Humanity! God! Jesus Christ! Well, done good and faithful servant. God has prepared a nation for you!
