Thought for Today

To you, the reader, I offer these thoughts. To you, who have struggled and withstood years of toil and heartache, setback and heartbreak, I offer these words. To you, who have been dismayed and downtrodden, held back and overlooked; oppress, discriminated against, paralyzed by fear and humbled by failure, listen closely. To you, who many times have tasted the sweet wine of success only to have its rich nectar wiped clean from your lips. To you who, after years of searching, seeking, and adhering to religious doctrine and dogma, find yourself without peace and fulfillment, and in greater bondage. To you, who thought you had found a spiritual sage—a grand master who could restore your soul as well as your affairs, only to expose his own shortcomings, once again leaving you empty and thirsting for more. To you, a member of that tireless generation who searched for success; who traded feet for tired souls, having fallen prey to civil rights, equal opportunity, affirmative action, and now, the latest elixir in a long line of proposed remedies, cultural diversity, only to learn that true success finds its way to you through individual effort, singular focus, and relentless faith. To you, who hunger in the heart as well as the spirit, read on! Your time has come!
